Who Invented The Surfboard

Apr 26, 2024

The first design revolution of surfboards occurred in 1926, when a person named Tom Blake invented the hollow board, applied for a patent, and became a surfing sensation at the time. In fact, this is the improved Euroboard. It has made many holes in the mahogany to reduce weight, and then applied a thin layer of wood on both sides for waterproofing. Its appearance is similar to Euroboard. Even so, this type of board weighs nearly 50 kilograms, and holding it may be like holding a sister paper. At first, many Hawaiians mocked him and called this board a "cigar board", but when they saw the performance of this board, they remained silent. In 1930, this type of board began mass production, and in 1935, he invented the plate fin, which greatly improved the stability of the board.
